DIY TARN

T-shirt yarn aka Tarn

This is a perfect side project to re-stock your yarn stash... especially if your like me and have a few boxes of old clothes you no longer wear.

Tarn has a luxurious texture (which I love) once made into fabric.

It's very easy, although can be time consuming to create your own Tarn.

It's also very satisfying knowing you recycled an old garment into a very usable, sustainable not to mention durable & stylish piece.

Using patterned fabric creates a truly one-of-a-kind colourway incorporated into your design making pit a very unique piece.

Here is my starter stash...
1pair of tights, 2singlets, 1tshirt.

There are a few different ways around the internet on how to make your own tshirt yarn. They all work the same way, however I discovered the hard way with my first couple of attempts ...fabrics that are a bit older or worn tend to frey ALOT! Especially when cut against the grain you end up with a fuzzy freyed edging -which can be useful for particular projects you want that shabby chic look on.

So I fully recommend cutting with the grain (unless you want the freyed edge that is!)
